These mini horses are trotting their way into the hearts of everyone they encounter.
Romeo and Ziggy aren't ponies. They are adult mini horses.
"You are beautiful. Can I get my kisses?"
And the cowgirl behind the joy might be surprising.
It's actress Daryl Hannah.
"It's great for me because no matter where I go with Romeo, people only see him."
"They don't even notice me, so it's fantastic."
She adopted Romeo and helped train him to work with people of all ages.
"He loved meeting new people. He loved all the attention, and I just..."
"it just seemed to be a natural fit."
Now, once a month, Daryl and horse trainer Senath Ferrera head to senior concerns in Thousand Oaks, California.
I think that animals have this unique ability to waken us to our intrinsic connection to the natural world,
and that sort of reminds us that there's still joy and wonder to be found even if you have physical constraints.
Martha Shapiro is the director of programs at the senior center and has seen the benefits the horses bring.
"Is there a therapeutic aspect to this as well?"
"There is. Visiting animals are always very therapeutic for all of us, really."
Majestic mini horses were not only adorable, but therapeutic too.
"What is it about Romeo that's so magical for you?"
"Well, they're gentle, they're kind, and they're not boys."
"A lot of people don't get to be around horses, and they are magical."
