Hey buddy, hey, we'll get you out here.
An elderly Chihuahua got itself into a pickle when it fell into a deep hole.
Alex Quinonez, an animal control officer with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office,
tells Inside Edition Digital what happened.
As I was on my way to the office, the call popped up.
Um.. I wasn't sure what I was getting into.
It turns out what Officer Quinonez was going to be getting into was a narrow pit.
I realized it was in a little hole, it's pretty deep.
First thing I wanted to do was just get the dog out.
So we dropped the ladder down in there.
I had to remove all my gear.
So I had to remove my vest and my duty belt.
And then I handed my body cam over to the utility worker so he can record everything I'm doing, just in case.
Officer Quinonez went down the hole empty-handed
and came back up with a 13-year-old Chihuahua mix,
who was scared and weak.
Honestly, I think he was grateful.
Due to the fact that it didn't growl,
it didn't act aggressive towards me at all, it was just shaking.
He took the poor canine to the local humane society.
They were unable to find an owner. So the little dog soon will be looking for his forever home.
In about a week, he's probably looking for another, you know, a retirement family to spend his time with.
It's always a good feeling to save an animal.
