Organizers want to make this the next Olympic sport.
Really, in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, a good old-fashioned snowball fight is taken seriously.
So seriously, in fact, this cold weather sport has become an annual event.
Competitors spend all year building their upper body strength for this frigid fight.
The rules are simple.
Two teams have 2 minutes to pummel each other with frozen water.
Players are out if they get hit by a snowball.
And the team with the most players standing at the end of the two minute round is the winner.
Some say it brings out the kid in people.
Snowball fighting is originally just a game,
so I like that when you give it a competitive side,
it becomes a high-tension sport you can enjoy.
This event started with 120 teams
and whittled them down to the ultimate champion.
The Olympic Committee hasn't taken on snowball fighting as an official sport yet.
But it did approve break dancing,
so snowball fighting officiados are holding out hope.
