Every month, a group of people gather at a historic house in New York for a quiet activity.
"Choose the document of your choice and you can get started writing."
They take the time to handwrite copies of the US Constitution.
Maggie Weber tells CBS News she holds the events at the Old Stonehouse in Brooklyn, the culminating site of the Revolutionary War,
to give participants a connection to that time in the past.
Written hundreds of years ago, the words are still important today.
"You don't have to have a constitutional attorney interpret it for you."
"You can pick up a copy and read it for yourself."
While some say they get in a good workout...
"My hand is hurting... my arm especially."
others say it's an opportunity to reflect on freedom in the United States and around the world.
"It's hard to read these words and know that they apply in some places and not others, including this country."
The event's founder says it is never political and that the document was written for all Americans.
